- MARGENS DO RIO NABÃO (MARGINS OF THE NABÃO RIVER)
The river Nabão adorns the historic center and gives even more freshness to the Mouchão Park, where a wooden water wheel still exists. While enjoying the shadows of the various trees, glimpse, from the island formed in the middle of the river, the D. Manuel I bridge, the Templar Castle and the Lagares d'El Rei.
- CENTRO HITÓRICO (HISTORIC CENTER)
The oldest historical center, medieval, is organized in cross, orientated by the cardinal points and having a convent at each end. The Republic Square, with the Mother Church dedicated to St. John the Baptist marks the center, to the west the hill of the Castle and the Convent of Christ.
In the surrounding streets you can find shops of traditional trade and the oldest coffee where you can appreciate the delights of the local pastry: almond and chila queijadas and the traditional Tomar slices.
We can not forget that Tomar preserves an interesting testimony of the Hebrew religion, the ancient synagogue of the 15th century, now Luso-Hebrew Museum of Abraham Zacuto, dedicated to the distinguished astronomer and mathematician of the fifteenth century. Situated on the old Jewish Street has a valuable documentary and epigraphic collection.
- CONVENTO DE CRISTO E CASTELO DOS TEMPLÁRIOS (CONVENT OF CHRIST AND TEMPLE CASTLE)
At the foot of a lush hill crowned by the imposing Castle of Tomar, ordered to build in the twelfth century by order of the Templars. Inside the Castle is the Convent of Christ, a true architectural jewel that mixes the Gothic, Manueline and Renaissance style, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983.
In its interior still conserves today memories of the knights monks of the order of the Templars and of the heirs of its position, Order of Christ.
It is worth to see the Convent with attention to discover some gems, such as the representations on the Renaissance portal, the particular Symbology of the Manueline Window of the Chapter Room, the architectural details of the Main Cloister and the dependencies linked to the Templar rituals.
- ERMIDA DA NOSSA SENHORA DA CONCEIÇÃO (ERMIDA OF OUR LADY CONCEIÇÃO)
Located on the way to the castle, the Chapel of Our Lady of Conceição began to be built in 1551 and was completed in 1573. It was initially designed to become a pantheon of D. João III, presenting a globalizing and innovative conception in the panorama architecture.
- ÓBIDOS
The medieval village of Óbidos is one of the most picturesque and well preserved in Portugal. Within walls, we find a well-preserved castle and a labyrinth of streets and white houses that enchant those who walk there. Between Manueline porticoes, flowered windows and small openings, there are several reasons to visit, good examples of the religious and civil architecture of the village's golden age.

- AQUEDUTOS DOS PEGÕES (AQUEDUCT)
Located near Tomar, on the Vale of Ribeira dos Pegões, the Pegões Aqueduct is one of the largest and most imposing Portuguese aqueducts. It was built at the end of the 16th century and at the beginning of the 17th century at the behest of Philip I, to supply the Convent of Christ with water.
